My Approach

Andrea sits on a leather beanbag, looking at you and smiling gently, her chin in her hand, her other hand on her knee, looking relaxed, open, friendly and approachable, with a large beautiful green plant in the background

My approach is relational and trauma-informed. As a LGBTQ+ affirming counsellor, I offer care that honors your identity, your longings, and the nonlinear rhythms of your healing.

Hi, I’m Andrea

Many people I work with face life changes, heartbreak, emotional overwhelm, or a sense of disconnection.  Often, they’re holding questions about who they are and what matters now.

I’m here to help you reconnect with yourself and build tools for self-trust and care in your life and relationships. Whether we meet online or in Berlin, we’ll make space for what’s emerging in you.

My approach is integrative and relational, blending insights from neuroscience about how we process emotion, form bonds, and carry traumatic experiences in the body.

As a trauma-informed, LGBTQ+ affirming counsellor, I honor your identity and healing process.

Being deeply heard, especially in the places we feel most ashamed or afraid, is profoundly healing.

You’re welcome here
exactly as you are.

About me

Since I was a child, I’ve been captivated by the human mind. How tender we are, how much we carry, and how, even in the hardest moments, something in us still reaches towards healing.

I’ve always loved to listen. In 2001, when I discovered that psychology was my vocation, I began a journey of study to make my listening a fertile ground for others.

I’ve cultivated a style of presence that is active and welcoming. One that integrates the complexity of life, the uniqueness of each person and the context they carry.

I’ve lived and worked across Puerto Rico, Argentina, Spain, the UK, and Germany and I know, personally, the challenge of loving, parenting, building relationships and identity in a country and language that aren’t your own. These migrations have deepened my capacity to hold differences and shape the care I offer today.

In the words of others

“Andrea Monroy is a compassionate, thoughtful, and engaged psychotherapist who is fully committed to hear clients as well as her professional development. After having worked with Andrea in a variety of capacities over many years I would have no hesitation in recommending her.

Andrea’s knowledge of theory includes both depth and breadth meaning that she is not limited to a single perspective or approach. Furthermore, she has experiences in a variety of areas, from working with children in an institutional setting and adults in long-term private therapy.

She is also a therapist that is thoroughly engaged in social justice and questions of power related to race, gender, sexuality, and other constellations of identity that impact the individual contextually. Anyone choosing to work with Andrea is most definitely in a safe and compassionate pair of hands.”
